On the RIM concall Balsillie reiterated that 100 percent of the handhelds sold one day will be smartphones.
Question is: When?

In 9 months the dumbphone market in the US lost 10 million users, equivalent to about 5%. The total number of users did not increase much (+0.3%). The smartphone usage in the same time frame grew by 42%.
Assuming the US user base is saturated with phones, if share erosion continues at the same rate of the past 9 months, the US will have 50% smartphone consumption in 5 years and 100% smartphone usage in 13 years.
It’s going to be a great market for at least 5 years.
