Elizabeth Schimel has joined Nokia to head up their music business unit under Tero Ojanpera (Entertainment and Communities). This was a long-anticipated move from Nokia - their music business had for perhaps too long been managed by Finns and Englishmen who had perhaps not their ‘DNA’ in the music business. The time is now critical for Nokia as the music industry shift into digital distribution accelerates. This is not any longer an incubation activity but real revenues need to flow in pretty soon.
Elizabeth joins Nokia from senior positions at Comcast and AT&T. According to her Facebook profile she indeed seems to know everyone in the music business :-).
